Amba yaluwo is a sinhala teledrama which was telecasted in Jathika Rupavahini and it was based on the Amba yaluwo (means Best Friends) children's novel written by Tikiri Bandara Ilangaratne in 1957. The novel has been translated to several languages. This is the TV series that was produced after that famous novel.
The story focuses on the friendship between the two teenagers Nimal and Sunil (Sudhu Appo) and the socio-economic struggle that surrounds them. However, the story itself is generally considered a children's novel, as it is a valuable lesson for anyone in any profession in society. Class differences that affect a child's normal life are fully captured.
The story begins when Sunil steals the mango that Nimal brought and they vie for it. Sunil regrets his mistake and becomes a friend of Nimal. When Sunil sees Nimal's family struggling, he begins to feed Nimal's family and their friendship grows stronger. In this story, both Nimal and Sunil are separated for their place and caste in society. Sunil is from a high caste and his father forced him to not to meet Nimal, whose father is a day labour. But no matter how hard the elders try to distinguish them, the duo find a way to see each other every day. The fate of the duo is intertwined throughout the story.
Sunil's father received a bribe to get the money he needed for his extravagant lifestyle. Eventually he becomes obsessed with gambling, is suspended, and his family becomes poor. What will be the fate of sunil? See it yourself.
